Be it summers or monsoon or winter, bathing a baby is something that is much needed. It is to keep the baby cool, and clean. Though for newborn babies, bathing everyday is not recommended, but once the baby turns 6 months old – cleaning them with water has to be a regular thing. This will help them not only to stay clean but to stay healthy as well.

Bathing is a holistic approach that has been followed through centuries, and by generations. If one sees the wellness concept of Ayurveda, the bath routine includes a bonding opportunity of the baby with the parents. Pouring water on the body can build sensory stimulations, and help the baby to relax apart from cleaning them. But the parents must use the best baby bath products so that the delicateness of the baby skin remains intact, and does not harm the moisture.

Almost all babies need proper pre and post bath routine to be followed so that their delicate skin can be nurtured, and they remain healthy. One can start with a good body massage though it might not be necessary on a daily basis. But when one wants to do an oil massage on the baby it helps in touch therapy. The baby gets more comfortable with their parent’s touch. Oil massage can help in the growth process, make their muscles stronger, and also get them relaxed by restoring the balance.

·       Keeping the baby clean is the main goal of giving them a bath. One can use only natural oils to massage the baby. Be it cold-pressed or organic – there has to be no chemicals or artificial fragrance in it. It is best to use regular oils like Almond, Jojoba or Mustard. They keep the skin hydrated, and the blood circulation intact in the body.

·       Babies do get a lot of sensory stimulation during bathing time. This stimulation can lead to the cognitive development because of the water textures, and its sounds. Many parents use bath toys, bright washcloths, and other things to create a calming ambiance for them.

·       Not only oil massages, but bath time is also a great bonding opportunity of the parents with the baby. They can spend some quality time together by fostering some emotional connection, and trust. Parents can create an environment where the babies can feel safe. They can use soft touches, and speak gentle words to their ears to make the bond stronger.

·       Also, one needs to take care of the skincare products that they use on the babies during bathing them. It is necessary to use organic products that are made of only natural ingredients. Not only that, the product has to be gentle without any artificial fragrance. From baby oil to baby body wash, and baby shampoo – all has to be pure, and light. When one bathes a baby, they need to use these products gently on them, and wash it well so that no soap remains left on their body. Post-bath one needs to use body lotions, and creams so that their skin remains replenished, and supple.

·       In fact, after getting a nice bath, the babies feel some kind of soothing effects. It can help them to wind down, and relax. One can go for a deep sleep after a good bath as well. So, if the baby is suffering from sleep patterns – this can be a natural solution.

·       There are gentle cleansers, and lotions available as well that the parents can use on the baby’s skin post bathe or at night. They can keep the skin hydrated, and can give relief from diaper rashes. Body butter with natural ingredients like Shea Butter can also be used to treat dry skin, and eczema.

As mentioned above, when it comes to using skincare products on the baby – the parents need to find the best organic baby skin care products in India. This is a very delicate matter, and one has to be very careful about it. There are varieties of brands, and products available on the shelves these days, but one needs to read all the ingredients that are listed on the product bottle. It is only suitable for the babies when the product is organic, mild, and is made of only natural ingredients.

Major products that can be used on a baby

·       Cleansers that are commonly used are the baby soaps. They wash, and clean the baby’s skin safely. But one must not use them daily, as it may make the skin drier.

·       Baby lotions are necessary throughout the year. They are light, and come with no artificial fragrance. It can keep the skin hydrated, and soft.

·       Babies do suffer from diaper rashes a lot. One can use pure Aloe Vera gel or Petroleum Jelly to treat that. This can give relief from redness, skin irritation, and heals the area properly. But if the rashes are severe, the baby has to be taken to the pediatrician.

·       For oil massage, it is better to go for only natural oils like coconut oil, and mustard oil. One can also try almond or jojoba oil, as they are quite nourishing for the skin.

·       These days, most parents do not use talcum powder on the baby until it is too hot or humid. One has to be very careful when picking a baby powder. It has to be dye, and fragrance free.

·       Apart from the body the scalp, and hair of the babies has to be taken care of as well. One can start washing their scalp after they are 6-8 weeks old. One can use a very mild, and soap-free shampoo that comes with a tear-free formula. The quantity can increase when the baby becomes older than 6 months.

·       Hair oil can also be used once the baby turns 6 months. Parents can use the same natural oil for scalp as what they use for the skin massage. Cold-pressed coconut oil is mostly recommended here.

No matter how much safe products one uses on their babies, they can suffer from rashes as their skin is very delicate. The moment that happens, one must stop using that product on them.
